Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said striking legislative workers under the auspices of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) will henceforth forfeit their salaries until they call off their action.

Wike in a statement signed on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said his administration had fully implemented full financial autonomy for legislature.

He insisted there was no justification for the closure of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Wike reiterated that his administration was not owing parliamentary workers, describing the current strike as a disservice to the government and people of Rivers.

He explained that the enforcement of no-work-no-pay policy had come into force in Rivers and parliamentary workers could no longer sit at home and expect salaries.
