What Happened To Crowee? – Garba Shehu Mocked Over First Post On Twitter After Service Restoration

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has been subjected to mockery on social media after making his first post on Twitter months after the same was banned from use in Nigeria.

The Federal Government on Wednesday lifted the suspension of Twitter usage in Nigeria after seven months.

Naija News recalls that the microblogging platform was banned after a post by President Buhari was deleted from the platform for violating the company’s policy with the government saying the platform is been used to undermine the sovereignty and security of Nigeria.

However, after months of controversy over the ban, the government announced the lifting of the ban, a development some Nigerians on social media perceived to be the government’s plan to again use the platform for its political gain as the 2023 general election that is just at the corner.

It was observed that Buhari’s aide, Garba Shehu had taken to Twitter a few hours after operations were formally restored in Nigeria, to welcome back citizens on the platform.

The government official also in the post, hailed the ‘impact’ of the ban by his principal.

Shehu posted: “Welcome back – Let me join fellow countrymen and women in welcoming the resolution of the impasse between the Federal Government of Nigeria and Twitter Inc., leading to the laying of a “foundation for a mutually beneficial future with endless possibilities.

“I join the leaders of government in appreciating all Nigerians, “especially the vibrant Nigerian youths who have borne with the long wait to resolve this impasse,” and as the government statement clearly says, the gains made from this shared national sacrifice are immeasurable.

“We hope that this is appreciated by all. The nation comes first. Once again, welcome back!”

While some netizens had appreciated the presidential aide for his post, some were quick to condemn him and the All Progressive Congress, APC administration.

One of the commenters swiftly asked what has become of Crowee App now that Twitter has been restored.

He tweeted: “So what happened to Crowee or Cowre?”

Naija News understands that the Crowee app is a social media app development and is owned by a former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba.

There were allegations in the past that the Crowee app was funded by Buhari’s government to rival Facebook and Twitter.

Another netizen who made a mockery of Shehu’s post on the gains of Twitter suspension, Onu’kwube @RayNkah, said, “Welcome back’? No. We didn’t go anywhere. We’ve always been here. Speak for yourself.”

Not left our in the shade on the presidential aide, another user of the bird app Haastyculate – @IAmHaasty tweeted: “No be you go welcome us. We never left twitter…we should be welcoming you and ur fellows in Cow Rock.
“But seeing as we don’t like you lot, we won’t be welcoming u…whatever happened to Crowwe app?” she asked.

“Which impasse are you talking about, the unfortunate ban was unnecessary in the first place, we know it’s a race against time for the APC government knowing the election campaign will be around the as Twitter plays a major role for the campaign,” Sir Ted @Deus_Ugwoke queried Shehu.
